Abstract

This paper presents a component-based approach to life cycle costing (LCC) in parallel machine replacement problems. Failure rates of machine components are incorporated into a mixed integer programming model to more accurately estimate corrective maintenance costs. A genetic algorithm is developed and validated through a real industrial case study.
